Utility Smock Shirt
If you're here reading this then you're obviously interested in the utility smock shirt pre order. Firstly, thank you for your interest - it always means a lot when people are interested in what I'm doing.
Since the last release I've been quiet but I've worked on a few designs for when time permitted and here we are. The Utility smock shirt is primarily designed to be an overshirt but is versatile enough to be worn as a shirt in its own right. They're constructed from 8oz washed denim which means it's soft enough to wear without an underlaying garment. There's no stiffness or starchy feel to the the denim and at 8oz it's a nice mid weight that will be nice for the transitioning seasons.
The utility smock shirt has been designed to fit loose and give the wearer plenty of carrying capacity for everyday essentials. Each pocket has been designed for specific items. In total there are 6 pockets. The shirts are finished with tortoise pattern sew on buttons and stainless steel snap buttons for the pockets and cuffs.
There are four available colours to choose from:
Rust

Ivory

Mid Blue

Sage

Fit Guide:
The Utility smock shirt is cut slightly generous and loose in the body. They’re designed to be worn as an over smock / shirt so retrain a looser fit - take this into consideration when choosing your size.
I’m wearing an XL and it fits me nicely with a comfortable amount of room. The XL has a pit to pit of 28 inches.
If you prefer a closer fit then consider sizing down but please bear in mind the way the garment is meant to fit.

Measurements:
As always I implore you to study the measurements carefully. I can ill afford multiple returns due to sizing issues as everything is done on a made to order basis and the costs involved are excessive.
Please see the measurement chart below:
All measurements are in inches.
Pit to Pit Length Sleeve length
(Pit to cuff)
Small - 25 29.5 20.5
Medium - 26 30 20.5
Large - 27 30.5 21.5
XL - 28 31 22

Outlay of costs:
Manufacturing cost per shirt = £105
Fabric= £14 per meter before VAT (3 meters total per jacket = £42 per jacket before VAT)
Buttons = £2 per button (3 buttons per shirt = £12 inc VAT)
Stainless Steel snap buttons (bought in packs of 500)
Special delivery shipping = £12
Total outlay per shirt (not including the sew in labels, packaging costs etc) is £171
Before even getting to the manufacturing stage I have also paid for patterns, pattern grading, four samples and the required fabrics for the samples - this totals up to a large initial outlay.
As you can see, I'm not in it for monetary gain. This is my passion project and an expression of doing something I love doing, being creative and designing clothes that I love and want to wear.
Why the high outlay of costs? Everything I do is made in the UK. These shirts will be handmade in a small London production studio and this comes at a premium cost. I choose to have them made here because I want the quality to be of the highest standard and I've done this from the very start.

Lastly, if you have made it this far then I send my most sincere gratitude for your interest and support. This is something I'm only able to continue thanks to your participation. Whether that's investing in a Creu release or adding a comment or critique on a social media post. Every input is very much appreciated. If you have any questions at all then please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks for reading.
Saul.
