Gritty solace on the banks of the Usk
The life blood of Newport has always been the Usk.
It splits the City into east and west, running right through the heart of the centre.
I live virtually on the banks, a mere 1 minute walk from my front door and it's a place I always feel a calming peace.
There's a little spot that I go to if I want to gather my thoughts, out of view, on the waters edge. It's peppered in graffiti but it's kept clean around there, no doubt offering those not fortunate to have shelter somewhere relatively safe and dry to take solace.
It's one of my favourite places in this old time weathered town.
