Tredegar 'Wharf' Jacket

If you're here reading this then you're obviously interested in the Tredegar 'Wharf' jacket and your interest is very much appreciated. It's been a long road getting here having initially getting to the cusp of opening the pre order a few months ago only to subsequently be let down for manufacturing. As you'll know by now UK manufacturing is paramount to what I do but finding reliable studio's to work with who can accommodate my less than normal working model is becoming really hard. That being said I'm here writing this because I have indeed secured a small batch UK manufacturing studio who have taken on the project and I'm obviously very happy about this. The Tredegar dry-dock & Wharf was the name of a long gone section of Newport’s historical docks. Co-incidentally the first house I bought was built near the land it used to exist on and there is actually a pub not far from there now called the Blaina Wharf. I should probably stress that the jacket is named after the historical wharf and not the pub!

Now with that out of the way let me talk about the jacket in question. For this release I wanted to explore the yachting and nautical styles that have come to influence me and this design in particular. I wanted to create a jacket that could be styled for a number of occasions. To do this I needed to choose the right fabric to suit the design and have chosen a beautiful imported Italian gabardine. Gabardine is a durable and tough fabric that keeps a soft wearable drape and is comfortable to wear. Although it can resist small showers it's not fully waterproof but it has a tight weave so is weather resistant to a point.

The jacket has a number of pockets starting with the two large bellow gusset pockets which also have a hand warmer pocket built in. There are two chest gusset pockets, one is small for keys or change and the other has been designed to fit large modern smart phones.

The jacket is a regular cut and is hooded but the hood can be rolled away into the large rounded collar. The collar itself is something I worked a lot on, it's the feature that I like most about the jacket. The collar can be buttoned down but can also be transformed into a neck protector when the weather turns. It can be held in place with a snap button strap and forms a natural shield for when the hood is pulled up over the head. The hood itself is slightly peaked and is spaciously cut with nautical style draw-cord rope running through it to keep it's shape.

The back of the jacket has an overlapping panel, typical of yachting parkas. This is stitched to the main back panel of the jacket while remaining looser on the sides to give the impression of a over-hang. The jacket is fully lined with putty coloured twill and finished with high quality metal snap studs and a double acting No.8 YKK silver zip.

The jacket will be available to order in four different colours: Apple Green, Rust, Navy and Ochre. Please take into consideration that the true colour of the fabric may differ slightly in person than it does on your screen - this is due to screen settings and resolutions.

Sizing & Fit

This is meant only as a guide to help you choose the most appropriate size and to get an understanding of how the jacket looks and fits.

The Tredegar 'Wharf' jacket is designed as a regular fit. For your reference I am wearing an XL in the photographs. This size is perfect on me and affords room for layering and comfortable movement. I'm 5'11, stocky build and generally wear XL - XXL.

Please read this next section carefully if you’re considering ordering.

As always I encourage you to study the measurements carefully and compare them to a similar style jacket that you already own so you can choose the size best suited to you but please consider the fit guide and description when doing so.

Please note that due to the costs involved in making these and the fact that they're made to order I cannot accept returns due to sizing issues. However, I always get people who miss the pre-order and then ask to be put on a reserve list so that if any prospective spares become available in their size I am able to offer it to them. In this scenario a refund can be given to the original buyer but only once the requested return has been re-sold.

Please see graded measurements below that are in inches

As always there is a manufacturing tolerance of +/- 2cm

Just as a parting statement; Everything I do is manufactured here in the UK like I've done from the start. I've never been interested in making 'fast' fashion and garments that will be worn a couple of times and then forgotten. Therefore I use the best manufacturing and best fabrics that I can viably afford to produce clothing that will be worn and loved for years to come. British manufacturing is not cheap and has further increased. Neither are superior quality fabrics, therefore I keep my pricing as sustainable and fair as possible to be able to deliver the above. Quality is paramount, you’re investing in a garment that has been designed to be loved and worn for years and these jackets are a reflection on me and the passion that goes into doing them.

Lastly, thanks for all your support - without it Creu would just be another pipe dream.
